Brenchley & Matfield School was founded in 1842 (before the state was actively involved in education) by the Church to serve our local, and wider community. This remains our mission today. We are a Church of England school, funded primarily by Kent County Council, aiming to serve all children and their families of any or no religion, creed or colour.

We currently have around 187 pupils on roll. A staff of 7 teachers, ably supported by teaching assistants and support staff, delivering the curriculum to 7 classes, ranging from the rising 5s to 11-year-olds.

  • Ofsted Inspection 2013

    Having been placed in Special Measures in 2010, we are delighted to announce that the school has, within 3 years, secured Good across the board in our recent Ofsted Inspection despite the new, tougher framework implemented in September 2013. 
  • Church Inspection – a report from our recent Statutory Inspection for Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) which gave us the overall grading that “the distinctiveness and effectiveness of Brenchley & Matfield as a Church of England school are outstanding”
