In line with Local Authority policy, all Reception Year children enter the school at the beginning of the academic year in which they turn 5. To start with they attend for mornings only, then they stay for lunch and finally they become a full time part of the school, towards the end of term 1.
We would very much like to welcome your child into our school. In order to do this you will need to fill in two application forms:
1. Local Authority’s Common Application Form – Kent County Council CAF, (CAF online), and
2. Brenchley & Matfield Supplementary Application Form which you should return to us along with a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
The school’s admissions policy has been compiled by the Tenax Schools Trust. If more parents express a preference for our school than the published number of places, the following criteria will be used in order of priority, to award places after the closing date for admissions or during the year of admission if other than at Reception age.
Where it is necessary to establish priority within one of the criteria the distance from home to school, as calculated by the Local Authority, will give priority. Within each category, children in the care of the Local Authority will take precedence.
Children in the care of the Local Authority (note 1) or children who have a Statement of Special Education Needs (SEN) or Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) (see note 1A)
Children who live in the civil or ecclesiastical parishes of Brenchley and Matfield (note 2)
Children with a sibling in the school at the time of entry (note 3)
Children who have a Parent or Guardian who has worshipped at least twice a month on average at All Saints, Brenchley or St. Luke’s, Matfield in the last 12 months (note 4)
Children who have a parent or guardian who has worshipped twice a month on average, in a CofE Parish Church (note 5)
Children of practising members of other Christian denominations affiliated to “Churches Together in England”, with the same pattern of worship as above (note 5)
Children of other applicants
* All sibling links should be current pupils, who will also be here when the new pupil starts.
Parents seeking admission under category 4, 5 or 6 need to obtain a reference from the appropriate minister of religion. This must be arranged by the applicant. The school follows the Code of Practice for Admissions Appeals.
We want to help you in any way we can through the admissions process. Please contact us at any time if you need any advice.
